jQuery rocks

Just to make a note - it would be convenient to use the jQuery library next time I need to write more or less complicated javascript code block. It simplifies document node access, manipulating with DOM, gives an ability to implement queer visual effects with one line of code.

List of useful links goes below:

One more note - there are lots of plugins for the javascript library. Just use Google Search :-).

Drill'em all

I've just noticed, that it would be a very useful program - the program which allows to learn as much of words-synonyms as it possible, on a particular subject. For example, all the kinda "good" epithets like "good", "nice", "pleasing", "pleasant" etc, and with division by target noun - human, thing or phenomenon (something else?). It resembles the "activator" feature, but ought to be more friendly to user and aimed on learning only.

Interestingly, what kind of interface and conception of interaction could be used for such software. Has someone got an idea?

Ufo - Extraterrestrials. The first look.

This game has been released recently, and I have made a checkup of what it is.

To my mind - it's a game made by fans, and for fans (i.e. for themselves). I don't think that someone else would like that game, after he takes the first look at it. It is quite ugly (as for 2007, and in general too), primitive (the original game was more complicated) and inconvenient enough (unusual control) to leave it off and forget as a scary dream. But there is a good consequence of testing the game: I want to get fun with "UFO 1: Enemy Unknown" now. It doesn't have all the drawbacks of its newer incarnation.

Possibly someone wants to know what the drawbacks exactly are - I just can say that there is a great amount of them, and they are very vexing. I can enumerate them but I'm afraid the list will be too long - I may fall asleep writing it.

Notepad2 is now 2.0.15!

Until now I have been using a simple text editor named Notepad2. It is simple, fast, has a quite simple interface and great possibilities at once. Its functional was enough for me, the only thing I felt abashed by - it seemed like the author forgot about his creature. I was wrong. I've been using version 1.0.12 but at last I unveil that a new version (2.0.15) is now available. It could be downloaded from this page.

New features I am pleased with are:

1) multiline find/replace;
2) find and replace dialogs are now modeless;
3) highlighting the current line;
4) forcing indent and unindent (Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Shift+Tab);
5) updated CSS syntax highlighting to CSS2.

Full list of changes

One more thing I need to mention - the new version requires the "msvcr70.dll" library. It could be downloaded from this location.
